Blast Effects
These stills are from a controlled test and illustrate typical effects of 500lbs of explosives on toughened glass. Click on the image to view the video.
1. Without film treatment.
Glass fails and enters the room at high velocity.
2. With window film
Glass fails but the film holds the pane together. Because of its bulk, the contained pane leaves the frame but at low velocity and therefore travels only a short distance.
3. With frame anchorage
Glass fails but the pane is contained within the frame with no glass entering the room.
